IDYLLWILD (CNS) – An injured hiker was the focus of a rescue effort this afternoon in a remote area near Tahquitz Peak in the San Bernardino National Forest.

A call came in at 1:41 p.m. that a hiker with an unspecified injury needed assistance on the Tahquitz Trail near Humber Park, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters attempted to reach the injured person on foot before calling in a California Highway Patrol helicopter to assist in the rescue.

As of 2:15 p.m., neither the helicopter nor firefighters had made contact with the hiker.
