JURUPA VALLEY (CNS) – A big rig overturned Wednesday morning on state Route 60 in Jurupa Valley amid heavy downpours, blocking and damaging a transition bridge.
The accident happened about 10:20 a.m. on the eastbound 60 connector to Interstate 15, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The tractor-trailer jackknifed just after it entered the ramp. The driver suffered minor injuries but did not require hospitalization, according to reports from the scene.
One of the semi’s gas tanks was punctured, causing fuel to spill onto the freeway, and the CHP reported that the transition bridge sustained unspecified damage, prompting officers to request a Caltrans emergency repair crew to assess the impact.
The transition bridge was shut down at 10:45 a.m., and a SigAlert was issued because of the closure and resulting traffic jam at the interchange
