SAN JACINTO – The San Jacinto City Council announced a public design contest for the creation of an official city seal. The contest will be open through June 2.

The entry must be a seal design closely identified with important local events, geography, assets, history and goals and aspirations of the city. The seal must be circular and contain the words “City of San Jacinto” and “Incorporated 1888” or “Incorporated April 9, 1888.”

“What better way to embody what makes San Jacinto great than by having an official city seal designed by our own residents,” Mayor Russ Utz said. “This contest is an opportunity for San Jacinto residents to use their creativity to design a seal that will be used on official documents, activities and facilities throughout the city.”

The city council will judge and select the winner. Judging will be based on originality, design and content – not artistic ability. Final artwork to prepare the seal for formal use will be handled by the city.

The winner of the contest will receive a recognition certificate commending the entry and will be invited to lunch with the mayor at a San Jacinto restaurant of their choosing. The certificate will be presented by the mayor and city council at a city council meeting.

Any current resident of San Jacinto, regardless of age, may submit one design entry. Submissions must include the seal design, a description of each of the elements used and reasons why they were chosen and a valid signature and contact information.

Contest rules and submission requirements are available on San Jacinto city website, www.sanjacintoca.gov, and are also available for pickup at City Hall.

Entries may be emailed to cespinosa@sanjacintoca.gov, or mailed or delivered to the city manager’s office, Attn.: Cynthia Espinosa, 595 S. San Jacinto Ave., San Jacinto CA 92583.
