SACRAMENTO – California state Senator Melissa Melendez, R- Lake Elsinore, honored Cindy Warren as the 2020 Woman of the Year for Assembly District 67, Tuesday, Sept. 29. Warren serves as an ambassador for the Murrieta/Wildomar Chamber of Commerce.
“I am truly honored to finally recognize Cindy Warren as the 2020 Woman of the Year for Assembly District 67,” Melendez said. “Her tireless dedication to our community throughout her adult life is truly telling by her many selfless acts. While COVID-19 may have delayed this announcement, Cindy’s efforts to help businesses in our community and the youth of our region should not go unnoticed. Her selfless commitment to helping student athletes achieve the goals of going to college is truly worthy of our praise and celebration.”
Warren and her late husband, John, established the nonprofit Junior Amateur Golf Scholars “JAGS” in 2000 as a nationally ranked junior golf tour. For over 14 years, they organized and ran monthly 36- hole and 54-hole nationally ranked junior tournaments and served over 5,000 junior golfers from around the state where all net proceeds are donated back as college scholarships, golf equipment, golf lessons, golf camps, entry fees or travel/hotel expenses.
Warren was selected for the honor earlier in 2020; however due to the coronavirus pandemic and Melendez’ transition from the state Assembly to the state Senate, the ceremony was delayed.
