As week Six of the high school football season got underway, teams from Southwestern League hit the field a day early, Thursday, Oct. 3 — instead of on Friday. The biggest thrill of the night came for the Chaparral Pumas, who remain undefeated after beating the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks 30-27.
Temecula Valley visited Great Oak in the annual “Pink Game” in support of breast cancer awareness and the Golden Bears didn’t disappoint their traveling fans, holding the Wolfpack to just six points on the night. The final in that game was 36-6.
The final game of the night came down to some cross-town rivalry action when Murrieta Mesa took a short trip to Vista Murrieta. The visiting Rams held their own for most of the night, but fell 35-21 when the dust settled.
Next week’s Southwestern League match-ups will go down like this: Temecula Valley vs. Murrieta Valley, Great Oak vs. Murrieta Mesa, and in what should be another exciting evening for Chaparral, the Pumas will host Vista Murrieta. All games will be played Friday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m.
