Supervisors approve plot plan for KTM buildings

KTM is an Austrian motorcycle brand with a reputation for successful off-road racing. KTM is currently under the corporate umbrella of Pierer Industrie AG, and Pierer Immoreal North America desires to build a KTM complex in unincorporated Temecula. An application for a plot plan was submitted to Riverside County, and the county board of supervisors approved the plot plan Nov. 5.

The supervisors’ 4-0 vote, with Manuel Perez absent, also approved an environmental Mitigated Negative Declaration for the KTM facility. The complex will be located east of the Winchester Road portion of state Route 79, west of Sky Canyon Road, north of Borel Road and south of Sparkman Way.

The property has a land use designation of community development: commercial retail, and it has Borel Airpark Specific Plan zoning. The complex will consist of a main headquarters building, a motorsport building and a storage building, and the plot plan also allows for a truck parking area and a motorcycle washing area.

The headquarters building will provide primarily office space in 47,675 square feet and will be 32 feet in height.

The motorsport building will cover 60,860 square feet and will be approximately 26 feet in height. The building will be used for equipment testing and research and will also include office space.

The storage building will be 17,917 square feet and 26 feet in height. It will include storage for motorcycles and other equipment.

An open area will be included between the motorsport building and the storage building. It will provide 26,696 square feet for truck parking. An 8,602-square-foot intake area will also be located between the motorsport building and the storage building and will include truck bays and a washing area for motorcycles.
