Supervisors approve Section 8 voucher agreement for Mission Village II Apartments

The Riverside County Board of Supervisors members are also the board members of the county’s Housing Authority, and the county supervisors approved an agreement, Feb. 11, which will provide for the rehabilitation of the Mission Village II Apartments in Temecula.

The supervisors’ unanimous vote approved the Section 8 Project-based Voucher Program Housing Assistance Payments Contract between the Housing Authority and Temecula Gardens II, LLP. The executive director of the Housing Authority or the director’s designee was authorized to take steps to implement the contract including signing subsequent necessary documents. Section 8 housing is funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the federal funding made the activity potentially subject to National Environmental Policy Act review, but the county supervisors found the project to be categorically exempt from NEPA review.

The complex in the 28400 block of Pujol Street consists of eight buildings totaling 75 affordable housing units and one manager’s unit. The Housing Authority issued a Request for Proposals for Housing Choice Voucher Program project-based vouchers Aug. 12, and eight vouchers were awarded for the Mission Village II Apartments complex. The vouchers will provide a rental subsidy for those residents. The units will be rehabilitated by Affirmed Housing Group, Inc.
