Hemet Sheriff’s Station deputies announce Capt. L. Purvis’s retirement

Capt. Leonard Purvis of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department and commander of the Hemet sheriff’s unit stationed in Valle Vista, announced his retirement after 32 years of service.In a Facebook post, it was said that Purvis has worked at multiple patrol stations in the county, and at one time was the chief of police at the Banning Police Department. He attended many special events in Hemet, San Jacinto and the mountain communities of Idyllwild, Anza and Sage in the recent years.For the past five years, he has been assigned to the Valle Vista Hemet Sheriff’s Station.His fellow deputies said on Facebook, “Captain Purvis always arrived grateful and with a big smile we have all come to know.
