Riverside County Sheriff’s Department dedicates Mountain Station

The long-awaited dedication of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Mountain Station took place Monday, Dec. 7, at the facility near Lake Hemet in Mountain Center.Riverside County Sheriff’s Capt. Leonard Purvis opened the event with the Pledge of Allegiance. A chaplain gave a benediction, before Purvis offered a brief description of the building and its intent.The facilities are owned by the Lake Hemet Water District, and the sheriff’s department worked with them to bring the building up to date.The station will be staffed with eight deputies to cover days and nights seven days a week. There will be one community service officer available at the station from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.Two sergeants will be based at the station, and eight vehicles stationed there to support the staff.
