Temecula’s Rose Parade Horsewomen to benefit from Dine for the Roses event Monday, Nov. 4

TEMECULA – The Horsewomen of Temecula Wine Country who earned a place in the 2020 Pasadena Rose Parade on New Year’s Day will hold a fundraiser at La Cocina de Reyes Mexican Restaurant in Temecula Monday, Nov. 4. The restaurant will make a donation to the group for every buffet meal purchased between 5-9 p.m. Guests must write “Rose Parade” on their ticket to account for the donation.

The Horsewomen of Temecula Wine Country is one of only 17 equestrian units that will perform in the parade and has been raising funds to help pay for their transportation, lodging and floral decorations – in other words – roses.

In September, after eight months of practice and documenting the groups’ performances just to apply for the granddaddy of parades, the ladies were notified by the parade committee that they had been accepted. Over 40 million people are estimated to watch the Rose Parade each year. It is broadcast to more than 220 countries and territories outside of the U.S.

The 21-member, all-women group is comprised of Temecula’s leading ladies including: three-time Temecula Mayor and Council member Maryann Edwards, Cowgirl Hall of Fame inductee Pat North Ommert, Judy Taylor, Cal Fire Assistant Region Chief Nancy Koerperich, California Highway Patrol Capt. Karyn Mentink, Temecula Police Chief Lisa McConnell, Libby Wilson Johns, Rosie Wilson, Marika Matson and the Temecula Cowgirl Color Guard.

The mission of riding in the Rose Parade has been the passion and project of Beth Good Coach, Temecula Cowgirl Color Guard Parade and Drill Team, and Juanita Koth, parade team captain and president of Temecula Eq-Wine Riders.

“We want the world to discover why the magazine ‘Wine Enthusiast’ named our area one of the top 10 wine destinations in the world,” Juanita Koth, co-organizer and team captain of the Horsewomen of Temecula Wine Country, said. “We would also love to see Temecula line Colorado Boulevard to show how strong our community pride shines.”

Donations can also be made to the organization on GoFundMe at www.gofundme.com/f/temecula039s-journey-to-the-rose-parade.
