The Rancho California RV Resort, 45525 Highway 79, in Aguanga, boasts landscaping, a golf course, scenic vistas, pools and a pond, and it is also home to the Market Place, catering to both residents and visitors.

The market is well-stocked, clean and organized. The employees are helpful, friendly and professional. The convenience store, which is open seven days a week, can save residents a trip “down the hill” to Temecula for staples and treats.

“We have a great wine selection, fresh produce and fine baked goods delivered weekly from Dudley’s and Old Town Bakery,” store manager Kirsten Marie Klohe said. “We also offer pre-orders on Dudley’s breads and Julian Pies.”

Upon entering the store, shoppers see the stocked shelves full of items ranging from toiletries, canned goods, hardware and breads to sweets, wines, beer and fresh vegetables and fruit.

“It is a hidden treasure,” one resident said.

The store shines under the close eye of Klohe. Several other employees assist her.

“I originally started working in the restaurant next door three and half years ago. Then an opportunity came up to start working in the store with the help of Denise Peterson, one of the HOA board members. I’ll be there two years in November. I’ve never been so blessed in my life to work for such an amazing company and to serve extraordinarily wonderful people. They are my family away from my family,” she said.

Getting to the Market Place can be somewhat of a challenge to the uninitiated. The RV resort has an entrance on Highway 79 South, just east of Highway 371 junction. The long, paved driveway winds along the hillside and comes into the resort through a low-water crossing. To enter the store, guests must first stop at the guard shack at the community’s gates. The attendant will direct visitors to the correct building, which is just past the gates on the left.
