The Anza Thimble Club held their monthly meeting Thursday, Oct. 3, at Cityreach Church, 43275 Chapman Road, in Anza. Many members came dressed for the Halloween contest. Maryanne Mink won for the prettiest costume, Kathy Wood for most original and Anna Cleveland for scariest.

Nancy Balleu was inducted as a new member.

The club also discussed their upcoming luncheon in November, which will be a membership drive. Turkey with all the trimmings will be served, and any residents who are interested in serving the community are invited to come Nov. 7, from 11-11:30 a.m. to attend the luncheon and meeting.

Also discussed were plans to distribute lap robes to the Veterans Affairs Hospital Nov. 12, and plans for preparing 65 Christmas stockings for kindergartners.

The club was formed over 100 years ago and is still actively involved in the community. All funds that the club raises throughout the year are donated back to the community.
