Two women shot, one fatally, in Moreno Valley


MORENO VALLEY (CNS) – A shooting in Moreno Valley today left two women wounded, one fatally, and the suspect was taken into custody, authorities said.
The shooting was reported about 4:10 a.m. in the 16100 block of Cosmos Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
The victims were transported for hospital treatment, and woman one died at a hospital. Information on her identity was not immediately available.
The other woman was treated for injuries described as “non-life threatening,” the sheriff’s department reported.
“The suspect in this incident has been taken into custody by deputies,” a sheriff’s statement said. “Our homicide Unit has assumed the investigation.”
The suspect’s name was not immediately released.
A section of Iris Avenue was closed between Indian and Heacock streets while an investigation was conducted.
The shooting occurred near a Procter & Gamble distribution center in Moreno Valley, according to broadcast reports, but it was unclear if there was any connection between the shooting and the business.
