HEMET (CNS) – A woman suspected of being intoxicated is accused of slashing an officer with a knife, inflicting non-life threatening injuries, during an encounter in a residential neighborhood in Hemet, police said Saturday.
Officers responded to a call of a woman “acting erratic and displaying bizarre behavior” at about 8:15 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of North Kirby Street, according to the Hemet Police Department.
While officers spoke to the suspect, she became combative and allegedly pulled out a knife and slashed one of the officers, inflicting a large laceration to one of his arms, said Lt. Nate Miller.
Other officers disarmed the suspect and arrested her. The injured officer, an 11-year veteran, was taken to a hospital but has since been released and is recovering, Miller said.
Misty Wagner of Hemet, 49, was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
She remained behind bars in lieu of $1 million bail.
