Anza man charged with multiple felonies in child sexual assault case

ANZA – A 47-year-old Anza man, Anthony Onzures, was formally charged on July 30, 2025, by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office with multiple felony charges after being arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a young child, authorities said.

According to the felony complaint, Onzures faces:

Two counts of Penal Code 288.7(b) – engaging in oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child under the age of 10. These alleged offenses occurred on June 1 and July 25, 2025.

  • Two counts of Penal Code 288.7(b) – engaging in oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child under the age of 10. These alleged offenses occurred on June 1 and July 25, 2025.

  • Two counts of Penal Code 288(a) – committing lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14, both dated June 1, 2025.

  • One enhancement under Penal Code 1203.065(b) – which prohibits probation due to the nature of the offenses.

  • Three aggravating factors under California Rules of Court 4.421, including:

    • The crime demonstrated planning, sophistication, or professionalism;

    • The victim was particularly vulnerable;

    • The suspect allegedly abused a position of trust.

A criminal protective order for domestic violence (CR-160) was also issued on July 30.

In addition to the felony charges, Onzures faces a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license under Vehicle Code 12500(a), with bail set at $5,000. Bail for each of the four felony charges has been set at $1 million.

Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a sexual assault at approximately 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 25, in the 37000 block of Bohlen Road. Upon arrival, deputies learned that the suspect had fled the scene. A search of the surrounding area led deputies to locate the man near State Highway 371 and Contreras Road. He was taken into custody without incident, according to Lt. Deirdre Vickers, public information officer for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.

Due to the sensitive nature of the allegations and the ongoing investigation, no additional information has been released.

A felony complaint has been officially filed against Anthony Onzures in connection with the sexual assault of a child in Anza.
The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office charged Onzures with multiple felony counts, including:
Two counts of violating Penal Code 288.7(b) – engaging in oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child under the age of 10. These alleged offenses occurred on June 1, 2025, and July 25, 2025.
Two counts of Penal Code 288(a) – committing lewd acts with a child under 14, both dated June 1, 2025.
One enhancement under Penal Code 1203.065(b), indicating probation is prohibited due to the nature of the offense.
