Fire in Homeland Displaces 10, Destroys Home

HOMELAND, Calif. — A residential fire in the unincorporated area of Homeland displaced six adults and four minors Sunday afternoon, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire in the 3100 block of Fretwell Avenue, near Highway 74, at 3:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, the crew of Engine 54 reported a single structure fully involved in flames, with the fire threatening a nearby exposure on the side of the building.

Firefighters knocked down the blaze at 4:06 p.m. Crews were expected to remain on the scene for approximately four hours to conduct salvage and overhaul operations.

Officials reported that no injuries were sustained in the incident.

The American Red Cross Southern California Region was requested to assist the 10 residents displaced by the fire. Animal Control was also called to the scene, along with crews from SoCalGas and Southern California Edison to address utility concerns.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
