The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for portions of Riverside and San Diego counties, warning residents to expect strong northeast winds through Sunday afternoon.
The advisory was issued at 9:51 p.m. Saturday and remains in effect until 5 p.m. Sunday.
Forecasters say northeast winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph are expected across several inland areas, including:
Riverside County Mountains
San Diego County Mountains
San Diego County Valleys
The San Gorgonio Pass near Banning
The strongest wind gusts are expected along the foothills of the Riverside and San Diego County mountains, according to the National Weather Service.
Possible Impacts
Officials warn that the gusty winds may blow around unsecured outdoor objects, knock down tree limbs, and could cause isolated power outages.
Drivers are also urged to use caution, especially those operating high-profile vehicles, which can be more difficult to control in strong winds.
Safety Tips
Residents are advised to:
Secure outdoor furniture, decorations, and loose objects
Use caution when driving, particularly on exposed roadways and mountain passes
Be alert for falling branches or debris
Prepare for the possibility of localized power outages
The wind advisory will remain in effect until 5 p.m. Sunday, when winds are expected to gradually weaken.
