Crash on Ethanac Road Downs Power Lines; Good Samaritans Rescue Occupants

Early Saturday morning, a vehicle collided with an electrical box and pole on Ethanac Road, sparking a fire and downing power lines across the roadway. Good Samaritans rushed to the scene to help pull occupants from the vehicle before emergency crews arrived.

The incident was first reported at 12:05 a.m. near 21576 Ethanac Rd. According to emergency dispatch logs, a dark blue or black sedan crashed into an electrical transfusion box and a cable pole. The impact caused the poles to fall into the traffic lanes and immediately ignited a fire, with sparks visible in the area.

At 12:06 a.m., reports indicated that at least one person was still trapped inside the vehicle. Within a minute, passing motorists had stopped their vehicles and were actively assisting in pulling the trapped party out of the damaged sedan. By 12:08 a.m., the involved parties had successfully made it out of the vehicle.

Responders noted a significant hazard at the scene, observing a propane tank situated dangerously close to the power pole, which was actively throwing sparks. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CDF) was quickly notified to respond to the fire threat.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) officially closed their incident log at 12:42 a.m. While SoCal Edison remained on scene to repair the damaged electrical infrastructure.
