A two-alarm fire damaged a single-family home and a recreational vehicle in Jurupa Valley on Thursday afternoon, displacing two residents and sending one person to the hospital.
Firefighters from the CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department responded to reports of a structure fire at 1:59 p.m. in the 3600 block of Jennie Street. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy fire involving a single-story residence and an adjacent outbuilding. Due to the intensity of the blaze, a second alarm was requested to bring additional resources to the scene.
Crews successfully halted the spread of the flames, containing the fire to the primary residence and an RV by 2:40 p.m. Firefighters were able to mitigate the spread and protect additional nearby exposures from catching fire.
According to an official statement from the CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department public information officer (PIO), one civilian resident was transported to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The American Red Cross Southern California Region was called to the scene to provide assistance to the two residents displaced by the incident. Fire crews remained on-scene for an additional two hours Thursday afternoon to conduct heavy overhaul operations and ensure no hot spots remained.
The cause of the fire has not yet been announced.
