TEMECULA — The Rancho Christian Eagles softball team continues to dominate the Inland Valley League, riding an eight-game winning streak backed by explosive offense and lights-out pitching.

The Eagles (11-3 overall, 5-0 league) recently shut out Citrus Hill 7-0 in a game defined by stellar individual performances. Pitcher Brooklyn Bateman tossed a complete game, allowing just one hit while striking out 17 batters. The game remained a tight 1-0 contest until the fourth inning, when Sophia Rezkalah launched a grand slam to blow the game open. Bateman later helped her own cause, hitting a solo home run in the sixth inning to seal the 7-0 victory.

Rancho Christian carried that momentum into their next matchup against the Perris Panthers, cruising to a 17-4 win. Rezkalah continued to shine, pitching three innings with seven strikeouts while reaching base in all four of her plate appearances. The offense generated 15 hits, with Olivia Haddad delivering a career-high five RBIs on three hits, including a triple. Keira Hansen added to the scoring with a triple of her own, driving in three runs.

The Eagles now sit alone at the top of the Inland Valley League standings. They look to defend their perfect league record this week when they travel to face the Lakeside Lancers.

Lakeside (11-14 overall, 5-1 league) brings a four-game winning streak into the matchup, recently defeating Vista del Lago 8-4. Rancho Christian previously defeated Lakeside 5-2 on April 10, but the upcoming road environment presents a new challenge for the first-place Eagles.
