Firefighters have stopped the forward progress of a vegetation fire that broke out Monday afternoon near the intersection of Via Princesa and Via La Colina.
The blaze was first reported at 12:57 p.m., according to active incident logs. Murrieta Fire & Rescue crews quickly responded to the area, and by 1:10 p.m., officials announced that the spread of the brush fire had been successfully halted.
As of early Monday afternoon, several units, including engines and a fire investigator, remained on the scene to monitor the situation and mop up hot spots. Several initial responding units, including additional brush engines and a water tender, have already been cleared from the incident.
The Murrieta Fire Public Information Officer requested that the public “avoid the area to allow us to work safely.”
