The American Water Works Association’s 2026 national Annual Conference and Expo was in Washington, DC, in June. Normally the Annual Conference and Expo has a Hydrant Hysteria competition in which two-person teams assemble a fire hydrant, and when that wasn’t part of this year’s program WaterWisePro Training, LLC, obtained a permit to hold a Hydrant Hustle competition June 22 in front of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial. The Hydrant Belles from the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District won the women’s Hydrant Hustle competition.Haley Garland and Lulu Seward comprised the Hydrant Belles team whose winning time was 1:34.00 including penalties.
