A bottle of 20 Year Tawny Port from South Coast Winery was given Best of Show honors at the 2026 San Diego County Fair Wine Competition.“I was extremely excited to hear that,” said South Coast Winery master winemaker Jon McPherson. “This is kind of a validation of what we’ve been doing over the last 25 years.”Not only are wineries from outside San Diego County allowed to enter the commercial wine competition, but there is also a Toast of Riverside award for Riverside County wines and South Coast Winery won that with its Sparkling Pinot Grigio. The 20 Year Tawny Port also won Best of Class for Dessert wines, the Sparkling Pinot Grigio was given Best of Class for Sparking wines, and South Coast Winery also received Best of Class for White wines with its GVR South Coast.
