Fatal multi-vehicle accident snarls traffic on I-15

crash

At approximately 6:18 AM this morning, August 6, a fatal multi-vehicle collision involving three vehicles occurred on the northbound lanes of I-15, just south of Hwy 79 South. Initial reports indicate that the one person was ejected into the southbound side of the freeway as their vehicle overturned, while another was blocking the second lane, resulting in significant traffic disruptions for almost four hours.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) quickly responded to the scene, dispatching multiple units to manage the situation. By 6:26 AM, the northbound lanes were reported clear, although southbound lanes were subsequently closed due to ongoing investigations and the need for tow trucks to remove the damaged vehicles.

Witness accounts revealed that the crash involved a black Toyota Camry and a pickup truck, with the incident primarily taking place in the northbound lanes. One of the vehicles ended up on its roof, necessitating the involvement of emergency services.

By 8:14 AM, CHP confirmed that the incident had been closed, although they continued to handle the aftermath. Two evidence tow trucks were dispatched to clear the scene, with one moving to the evidence tow yard.

The investigation included assessing the need for additional lane closures for safety measures. As of 10:36 AM, all lanes have been reopened, allowing for the resumption of normal traffic flow. Motorists are advised to remain cautious in the area as residual delays may still occur.
