The California Department of Transportation reports to the public that construction contractors have begun $4 million emergency work to repair the damage caused by the Airport Fire last year on Highway 74, the Ortega Highway.The necessary emergency repairs will require daytime flagging and lane closure operations. Field inspections began Monday, January 6 and will continue through Friday, January 10. The project location is from Grand Avenue to the Waterfall near El Cariso Village. Daytime flagging may begin later from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., depending on contractor availability. The closures are also dependent on contractors receiving proper materials for each job function.
