At 33 years old, Murrieta resident Dominic Trent has become a cherished member of the Fallbrook community, known for his unwavering dedication to keeping the parking lot area around Dollar Tree and Grocery Outlet organized and safe.
Everyone needs to have a purpose, and keeping the cars and people safe in this local busy parking lot seems to be his. He serves the community with enthusiasm and a kind heart. This is what earned him the Village News Worker of the Week.
Dom’s life has been shaped by challenges, including disabilities and the loss of his father at a young age. However, he has support and unconditional love from his two brothers, Charles and Eddie. The two brothers are former Marines and former employees of Grocery Outlet.
They have their own families, but also take seriously the responsibility of caring for Dom, making a heartfelt pledge to look out for him. When they opened their own barbershop next to Dollar Tree, they included Dom, bringing him to work with them and ensuring he felt loved and valued.
Mary Brantley, who owns Grocery Outlet with her husband Jeff, had nothing but good things to say about Dom’s brothers as employees, but she said she really respected the brothers for how well they love and look after their brother Dom.
Cynthia, an employee of Dollar Tree, said of Dom, “He’s a big asset. We love him.”
Dom is known for his positive and friendly attitude. He takes his community role very seriously. He helps direct traffic, ensuring both pedestrians and drivers move safely through the parking lot. He also interacts with shoppers, calling everyone “friend.”
While not an actual employee of Dollar Tree, his positive presence is often appreciated at the door by shoppers. Occasionally, people offer him tips or snacks, which he graciously accepts. With the tips he received recently, he purchased a bike, which he can be seen riding around town.
His brother Eddie lives in Fallbrook with his wife and kids. Charles lives in Murrieta with his family. We spoke to Eddie in the barbershop next to Dollar Tree. They remain committed to taking care of him and are proud of the positive impact he has on the community.
Dom’s Worker of the Week recognition highlights not only his hard work but also the love and commitment his brothers have shown him. He is a great example of family, community spirit and a contributor to the “Friendly Village.”
