HS Baseball: Great Oak downs Apple Valley 11-0, advance in Division 3 of the CIF-SS playoffs

The Great Oak High School Wolfpack welcomed the Apple Valley High School Sundevils to their house Thursday, May 2, as the opening round of the CIF-SS Division 3 baseball playoffs got underway. It didn’t take long for Great Oak to pull out in front as a 2-run first inning and 3-run second inning put the Wolfpack well ahead of the visiting Sundevils. Senior right-hander Cameron Mabee kept Apple Valley scoreless, allowing only three hits over his five innings on the bump. Junior lefty Sebastian Castro closed the game for Great Oak finishing off a combined complete game shutout with his 2 innings of hitless pitching.Apple Valley’s Dallas Williams collected two hits on the day, but it would Mabee’s ability to keep the Sundevils guessing that would be their demise.
