Jack VanderLans won the steer wrestling event at the Aug. 16-17 Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo in Tehachapi. The Temecula cowboy had a time of 8.5 seconds to take first place at the rodeo.“It was just an honor to be able to compete there and do well,” VanderLans said.VanderLans was in the Aug. 16 performance.“Tehachapi’s a really nice rodeo to go to,” he said.Part of that pleasantness is the mountain view from the rodeo grounds.“It’s a really nice location,” VanderLans said.VanderLans also commended the committee who organized the 56th annual Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo.“They always do a good job,” he said.The Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo was VanderLans’ only rodeo that weekend. He competed in both the tie-down roping and the steer wrestling.“
