Blaze scorches six acres in South Riverside

RIVERSIDE (CNS) - A brush fire that may been intentionally set erupted on Monday on the south end of Riverside, burning roughly six acres and threatening homes before crews got it partially contained. The non-injury blaze was reported at 11:15 a.m. in the area Taft Street and Granite Avenue, in an area known as Orangecrest, near the Riverside County boundary, according to the Riverside Fire Department. Multiple engine crews from the city and county were sent to the location and encountered flames moving through high grass at a moderate rate. A Cal Fire water-dropping helicopter was called in to make runs on the brusher, which was in close proximity to several properties.
