Warm Springs Middle School 7th grader receives school’s ‘Burning Flame Award’

Nico Aguilar, a seventh-grade student at Murrieta Valley Unified School District’s Warm Springs Middle School was recognized during a Friday Flag Assembly at the school Sept. 27.Aguilar, a Hodgkin’s lymphoma patient, was awarded the school’s first Burning Flame Award for his determination, growth-mindset and kindness toward others.“Nico’s determination and growth mindset transcends his school,” Murrieta Valley Unified School District public information officer Monica Gutierrez said.For the past two years Aguilar has been battling Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and in September 2018, he received his first bone marrow transplant.
