Crews to demolish old Scott Road bridge, requiring 215 closure

MENIFEE (CNS) - A freeway overpass in Menifee is scheduled to be demolished this weekend, requiring a full closure of Interstate 215 for two nights, during which motorists will be detoured around the project site.According to the Menifee Department of Public Works, the original two-lane Scott Road bridge is scheduled to be taken down in segments on Friday and Saturday nights. The demolition work had been set for this past weekend, but planning issues delayed it for a week.The old overcrossing was replaced earlier this year with a six-lane span, serving as the new Scott Road/I-215 Interchange.The first freeway shutdown is slated to get underway at 8 p.m. Friday and end about 8 a.m. Saturday, and for the duration, both north- and southbound traffic will be diverted off of I-215 v
