Cork Fire Kitchen turns excess holiday ingredients into free appetizers, helps area’s less fortunate

TEMECULA – How many cans of cranberry sauce will be sitting around unopened in people’s homes after Thanksgiving? Boxes of stuffing? Cans of pumpkin filling? It’s inevitable that families end up with a few unused and unopened food items that they never get around to preparing for the holidays. Instead of letting them sit in the cupboard until next year rolls around, the chefs at the Cork Fire Kitchen inside Temecula Creek Inn have another idea. They’re calling it “Leftover Love,” and they’re determined to help the region’s less fortunate. Anyone who brings at least two non-perishable food items to Cork Fire Kitchen between Friday, Nov. 29, and Tuesday, Jan. 2, will receive a voucher to receive two-for-one appetizers during brunch or dinner service.
