Butterfield Stage Road widening expected to be complete by April, city says

Construction crews have nearly finished digging into a hillside to widen Butterfield Stage Road, and paving is expected to be completed by April, a Temecula city official said this week.Construction began in July 2019 to widen Butterfield Stage Road to four lanes north of Rancho California Road on the far eastern edge of Temecula — an area where it previously only had one through lane in each direction, though most of the rest of the road’s length is four lanes wide.Workers had to cut into the side of a hill to make space for the expanded roadway.
