Local author to release latest book

A local Temecula Valley author is planning to release his eighth book in the coming months. Dr. William Lynes, 66, has lived in Temecula since 1989, and has been writing since shortly after that. Lynes is a former physician — he retired in 2003 — and most of his books have been medical genre fiction. His latest work, “A Surgeon’s Knot,” is no different. The story’s protagonist is a young physician named Jackson Cooper, and the book focuses on a one-year surgery internship in the early 1980s where he is confronted with a tragic outcome for one of his patients. “It’s a story of the dignities of medicine, the overwhelming duty to man, but it’s also about failure and redemption,” Lynes said via telephone Jan. 9.
