MENIFEE (CNS) - Two people are now reported to have died in a multi-vehicle crash in Canyon Lake near Menifee, authorities said Saturday.
The crash happened at 9:54 p.m. Friday on Railroad Canyon Road west of Goetz Road, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Dominic Schreiber said.
An eastbound vehicle rear-ended another eastbound vehicle, Schreiber said.
"One of the vehicles then crossed over the center divider and collided with a vehicle traveling westbound,'' he said.
"Two occupants of the westbound vehicle were pronounced dead as a result of the collision,'' Schreiber said.
The Riverside County Fire Department reported that four patients were taken to hospitals with moderate injuries, including two who were freed from wrecked vehicles using the jaws of life.
