Temecula man gunned down at Perris gas station, suspect still at large

PERRIS (CNS) - A 21-year-old man was shot to death outside a Perris gas station, and the gunman remained at large today. Gelder Funes Lopez of Temecula was gunned down just before 8 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of East Fourth Street, near Perris Boulevard, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. Sgt. Richard Carroll said deputies were called to the location to investigate reports of a man down and found Lopez unconscious and mortally wounded. Attempts to revive him were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Carroll said. Deputies searched for the shooter, but were unable to find him.
