Flash flood warning issued for Riverside County

A flash flood warning is in effect for Riverside County Thursday afternoon. The National Weather Service issued the warning for San Bernardino and Riverside counties, as well as north-central Orange County, to be in effect until 5:15 p.m. Thursday. Widespread heavy rain was recorded across the northern Inland Empire and Orange County earlier in the afternoon, with rainfall rates of up to a half-inch per hour. "Since this is widespread it will create dangerous flash flooding to drainage channels and normally dry creeks," the NWS said. "Ponding on roadways, low lying areas and intersections could be significant. Driving will be dangerous." The NWS advised drivers to turn around when faced with a flooded roadway.
