Anza man to stand trial for allegedly gunning down his father

MURRIETA (CNS) - A 22-year-old Anza man accused of fatally shooting his father at the victim's house must stand trial for murder, a judge ruled on Friday. Anthony David Holguin was arrested in November after he allegedly killed 40-year-old David Jose Holguin in the 39000 block of Cary Road, near Dusty Road. Following a preliminary hearing, Riverside County Superior Court Judge F. Paul Dickerson ruled there was sufficient evidence to warrant a trial on the murder count, as well as a charge of illegal possession of a firearm and sentence-enhancing gun and great bodily injury allegations. Dickerson scheduled a post-preliminary hearing arraignment for April 3 at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta. The defendant is being held on $1 million bail at the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside.
