LAKE ELSINORE (CNS) - A box truck leaked about 50 gallons of diesel fuel along Interstate 15 in Lake Elsinore today, causing some to spray onto passing vehicles before authorities arrived to begin cleaning it up.
The spill was reported at 9:12 a.m. in the northbound lanes near State Route 74, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
A motorist reported diesel straying "all over his vehicle'' and inside through the vents, the California Highway Patrol reported.
As of 11:47 a.m., authorities were on the scene dispensing material to absorb the diesel.
Traffic delays associated with the cleanup effort were not immediately reported.
Riverside County Department of Environmental Health officials responded, along with equipment used to clean up hazardous waste.
