Barricaded suspect dies from self-inflected gunshot wound

PERRIS (CNS) - A man who barricaded himself in a Perris home and allegedly shot at deputies was later found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, sheriff's officials said today. The incident began at 1:44 p.m. Saturday when deputies were dispatched to assist California Highway Patrol officers responding to a hit-and-run crash that injured at least one person near Alexander and Markham streets. A sheriff's helicopter spotted the suspect running through a nearby field toward the 18000 block of Cable Lane, where he broke into a home and barricaded himself, Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. Deanna Pecoraro said. "As deputies responded to the residence and began approaching, the suspect fired a weapon toward the deputies. No deputies were hit nor injured,'' Pecoraro said. She said
