Cool start to the weekend in Riverside County, heat expected next week

RIVERSIDE (CNS) - Temperatures are expected to cool in Riverside County during the first half of Memorial Day weekend, but conditions will heat up quickly on Sunday and extreme heat is expected in the Coachella Valley throughout next week. A trough of low pressure over the Pacific Northwest will bring cooler weather today and Saturday along with gusty winds in the Riverside County mountains, according to the National Weather Service. High temperatures today are forecast to reach 99 in the Coachella Valley, 83 in the San Gorgonio Pass, 82 in Hemet, 83 in Riverside, 80 in Lake Elsinore, 78 in Temecula and 68 in Idyllwild.
