Fire chars 20 acres on Soboba Indian Reservation
SAN JACINTO (CNS) - A wind-driven wildfire that erupted today on the Soboba Indian Reservation scorched 20 acres before being knocked down.
The non-injury blaze was reported about 3 p.m. in the area of Castile Canyon and Soboba roads, near the Oaks Golf Course, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
Thirteen engine crews and two hand crews, numbering close to 100 personnel, were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a slow rate below a ridge, according to reports from the scene.
Two Cal Fire air tankers were summoned to make runs on the fire, giving crews time to begin establishing containment lines. Shortly before 7 p.m., the fire was declared 100% contained.
