Spread of 55-acre brush fire halted near Anza

Firefighters are working to completely contain a wildfire that broke out near Anza this afternoon. The blaze, dubbed the "Indian Fire" was reported just before 3:30 p.m. near Tripp Flats and Wheeler roads, and was burning about five acres by 3:48 p.m., according to information from Cal Fire Riverside. An hour later, the fire was reported at 45 acres. The area is due north of Cahuilla Casino. At 5:45 p.m., Cal Fire Riverside reported that the forward spread of the fire had been stopped, and the fire was holding at 55 acres with 5% containment. It was then reported at 35% containment a little after 7 p.m. Crews remained at the scene and were working to fully contain the fire.
