Man allegedly caught in sheriff’s sting targeting illegal fireworks sales

A 31-year-old man snared in a Riverside County sheriff’s crackdown in Lake Elsinore on illegal fireworks sales was out of custody Thursday, June 16. Danish Saleem was arrested and booked into the Cois M. Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta Wednesday, June 17, on suspicion of unlicensed sale of pyrotechnics, a misdemeanor. He posted a $5,000 bond and was released from custody later that night. According to sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Reese, deputies became aware of possible illicit fireworks sales and set up a sting operation that culminated in Saleem allegedly agreeing to meet for a transaction, believing an undercover investigator was an area resident seeking to make a sizable purchase.
