WILDOMAR – Animals within the Menifee city limits will now be transported to the shelter in Wildomar after the Menifee City Council directed staff to contract with Animal Friends of the Valleys for both field services and sheltering services June 14.

AFV operates the Southwest Communities Animal Shelter, 33751 Mission Trail, in Wildomar.

Until Friday, June 26, AFV’s animal control officers continued to transport stray pets from Menifee to Riverside County’s San Jacinto Valley Animal Campus, 581 S. Grand Ave., in San Jacinto for care and shelter.

The previous contract ended June 30. After that date, Menifee strays began to be transported to the Wildomar shelter.
