Man charged with attacking woman on Temecula bike path

MURRIETA (CNS) - A 19-year-old man accused of attempting to sexually assault a woman on a bike path in Temecula was charged today with attempted rape and other offenses. Travon Lee Branom of Murrieta was arrested Tuesday following a weeks-long Riverside County Sheriff's Department investigation. Along with the attempted rape count, Branom is charged with assault with intent to commit rape and assault resulting in great bodily injury. He's being held in lieu of $500,000 bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta and is slated to be make his initial court appearance Monday at the Southwest Justice Center. According to sheriff's Sgt. Edmond Seltzer, a woman was jogging along the Santa Gertrudis Creek Trail near Winchester Road about 10:30 a.m. on July 16 when Branom rode up on a beach
