Senior killed while trying to cross Menifee intersection identified

MENIFEE (CNS) - A senior citizen who was struck and killed while trying to cross an intersection in Menifee was identified today as a 75-year-old local resident. John Hamilton was fatally injured about 7:20 p.m. Wednesday at Laguna Vista Drive and Rockport Road, according to the Menifee Police Department. Capt. Chris Karrer said Hamilton was walking north on Laguna Vista, within the marked crosswalk, when a motorist going west on Rockport hit him. Karrer said the driver had yielded for a stop sign but did not see the senior step into the roadway until it was too late. ``The pedestrian was knocked to the ground and sustained severe head trauma,'' the captain said.
