Man charged with carjacking in Aguanga, fleeing to Mexico

MURRIETA (CNS) - A 29-year-old Iowa man was charged today with committing a carjacking in Aguanga and then fleeing to Mexico, where he stayed a day before being arrested when he tried to return to the United States.Marcus Dale Sidney is being held in lieu of $120,000 bail at the Byrd Detention Center in Murrieta and is slated to make his initial court appearance Thursday at the Southwest Justice Center.According to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Sean Liebrand, the defendant was involved in a roadside crash as he passed through the intersection of Highway 79 and Sage Road about 3:30 p.m. Saturday.A good Samaritan stopped to see whether Sidney needed assistance and called 911, at which point a California Highway Patrol unit was dispatched to the location, Liebrand said."Whil
