The Murrieta Valley Unified School District held a special meeting, Thursday, Aug. 27, to hear the results of an investigation into a racist group chat involving Vista Murrieta High School students in 2015 and whether school staff and administrators knew about an alleged report made by a student at the time. The board also heard a report on the start of the 2020-2021 school year and other issues during the meeting held virtually due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Two investigators from the law firm, Best Best & Kreiger, presented the results of the almost three-month investigation and concluded that no proof that the student had reported the group chat to administrators or staff could be substantiated.
