CHP: Distracted driver killed man, injured others in Winchester

WINCHESTER (CNS) - A distracted teen driver plowed into two other vehicles, killing a 53-year-old man and injuring himself and four others, including an infant and a child, authorities said Sunday. The crash occurred at 3:10 p.m. Saturday at Winchester and Pourroy roads, where a sedan and a minivan were stopped at a red light, according to the California Highway Patrol. A 19-year-old man in a pickup slammed into the two stopped vehicles from behind at about 50 mph, the CHP said. Authorities said he was "distracted and failed to observe the stopped traffic in front of him." The force of the crash sent the minivan into the dirt shoulder and the sedan into a dirt embankment.
